Description

Psychiatric disorders are complex and multifaceted, with biological, environmental, and genetic factors all playing a role in their development and treatment. This course offers an accessible scientific overview of the core elements of neuropsychopharmacology, integrating insights from genetics, neuroimaging and neuroanatomy, immunology and statistics. 

Learning objectives

  1. Understand the biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders
  2. Critically evaluate the challenges in psychiatric treatment and research
  3. Apply neuroimaging and statistical methods to psychiatric research 

Audience

Early career scientists or professionals entering the field of neuropsychopharmacology. 

Course format

The course consists of 9 lectures, incorporating interactive knowledge checks during the lectures. The course is based on the Small Private Online Course on Neuropsychopharmacology, launched by ECNP in 2018.

Lecture 6 - Functional and developmental neuroanatomy (Gil Zalsman, Israel)

Lecture 7 - Statistical basic introduction (Avi Avital, Israel)

Lecture 8 - Immune system and the CNS (Eldar Hochman, Israel)

Lecture 9 – Introduction to neurotransmitters (Amir Krivoy, Israel)
