Description
This ECNP course explores a vital, transdiagnostic concept that holds significance across all psychiatric disorders and offers translational benefits in various domains of mental health. Resilience, the ability to recover from adversity and stay healthy over time, is essential to mental well-being and is rapidly evolving in research and treatment. This course will examine the neuroscience behind resilience and vulnerability, its potential applications, methods to measure it in diverse settings, and its practical use in clinical practice. Through a blend of pre-recorded lectures and live discussions, participants will delve into the foundational theories, contemporary research, and innovative translational approaches that incorporate resilience into daily practice of mental health professionals.
This course is organised by two ECNP Networks: The Resilience and Traumatic Stress networks, aiming to foster interdisciplinary collaboration to understand the interplay between stress and resilience in different contexts, how to operationalise and measure it, but also its underlying (neuro)biological mechanisms The outcome of this ECNP course is a robust understanding of resilience that equips participants to apply these insights effectively in their professional spheres, contributing to innovative neuroscientific research, innovative therapeutic strategies, and improved patient outcomes.
This course is ideal for mental health professionals at any stage of their career, including pre-clinical and clinical researchers, practicing psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare providers involved in mental health services.
This on-demand version is based on a previously run course (September 2024 – March 2025), which originally included live Q&A sessions. The lecture content is now available for learners to access at their own pace.
