From neuropeptides to brain circuits in anorexia nervosa

Roger Adan is professor of molecular pharmacology at the University Medical Center Utrecht at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. His research concerns unraveling the neural circuits that underlie behaviors relevant to psychiatry such as decision-making, anxiety, impulsivity and reward seeking with a focus on eating disorders, in particular anorexia nervosa and obesity.
Roger is also a scientific advisor at the Rintveld Eating Disorder Clinic, Altrecht, Zeist; an expert in the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)’s working group on "Added Sugars"; and a guest professor at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Silvia is a PhD student at the neurobiology research unit, Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, Denmark. She is part of the Serotonin and Beyond European consortium and as part of her PhD she did an internship in science communication at ECNP. Her research primarily focuses on genetic and epigenetic markers of depression and antidepressant treatment, with a main focus on the serotonin system.
