Mayte Mars, the Netherlands, will present a newly published protocol for generating air-liquid-interface-grown cortical organoids that contain microglia. She will highlight the advantages of this model over standard brain organoids—particularly in terms of neuronal tissue health and the ability to study and manipulate microglia in a 3D brain-like environment. She will also share data on the application of this model to investigate microglia in familial Alzheimer’s disease.
Title: Studying human neuro-immune interactions in a 3D brain-like environment: generating iPSC-derived microglia-containing air-liquid-interface cortical organoid (MG-ALI-CO) cultures
Speaker: Mayte Mars, The Netherlands
iPSC webinar series: Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) technology offers novel possibilities in studies of the basic molecular and cellular etiopathology of mental disorders as well as investigating drug response mechanisms and novel drug discovery. The iPSC webinar series on iPSC technology is organised by the ECNP iPSC Platform for Neuropsychiatry Network.
These online series, led by Early Career Scientists within the Network, aim to promote the sharing of knowledge and ideas across countries, advance the field of iPSC-based neuropsychiatry, and providing networking and training opportunities for participants.
By registering, you consent to the sharing of your e-mail address with the iPSC webinar organisers.
